KEN HABERMAN

Working in the environmental field since 1980, Ken has experience in the areas of property investigation and remediation, environmental permitting, environmental review and planning, and regulatory and policy development. Since 1989, he has focused on issues related to the investigation, cleanup, and reuse of contaminated properties. Before becoming one of the founding partners of Landmark Environmental, LLC in 2000, Ken was a Vice-President at Barr Engineering Company. Ken also previously worked at the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency from 1981 to 1996, where his last position was supervisor of the Voluntary Investigation & Cleanup Program. His in-depth and practical knowledge of technical, policy, funding, and liability issues enable him to provide an insiderˇ¦s perspective on a range of regulatory issues associated with brownfield redevelopment, property transactions, and voluntary investigations and cleanups.

In his current role at Landmark, Ken provides project-specific advice and strategies to clients who buy, develop, sell, or manage properties affected by environmental conditions so these clients obtain regulatory approval and liability assurances. Ken also provides assistance in identifying possible environmental funding sources.

JESSICA FITZPATRICK

Jessica has been working in the environmental industry since 1996. As the project scientist for large brownfields redevelopment projects in the Twin Cities, her tasks include preparing Site Safety Plans; overseeing Phase II environmental investigations; reviewing and reducing laboratory analytical data and creating data tables that compare data to Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) regulatory screening criteria; mapping results with Geographic Information Systems to identify response actions to be dealt with during redevelopment and construction activities; utilizing hot spot data to identify appropriate remedy; preparing Response Action Plans, Contingency Plans, and Response Action Implementation Reports for approval by the MPCA. Since becoming Vice President at Landmark, she has managed these functions on numerous projects including: an 8-acre former Superfund site, and the 44-acre property located at I-35W and I-494 where she conducted a Phase I and a Phase II subsurface geoprobe investigation on a site comprised of 60 homes and commercial/industrial businesses and dealt with reluctant landowners involved in eminent domain proceedings with the city.

She focuses on environmental investigations and remediation work related to property transactions; most involve the MPCA voluntary investigation and cleanup program. She takes the lead on Phase I Environmental Site Assessments.

JERRY MULLIN

Working in the environmental field since 1993, Jerry Mullin has years of experience as a project geologist implementing field investigations and remedial actions for contaminated sites and redevelopment projects. He manages environmental issues during brownfield site redevelopment. He has conducted soil, groundwater, and air quality investigations and managed soil excavation and disposal at brownfield sites with previous land uses such as scrap yards, metal plating, foundries, gas stations, printing shops, dry cleaning, rail yards, and pesticide manufacturing. Recently, he was project geologist for the investigation and remediation of a 30-acre former railroad property, and managed the environmental investigation and remediation of a former drycleaning operation where PCE-contaminated perched groundwater is providing a source of vapor migration into a strip mall building; he conducted the environmental investigation, delineated off-site groundwater contamination, and installed a soil vapor extraction system (SVE). A plume of contamination extends off the former drycleaning property in the direction of a pond approximately 1200 feet west. The SVE controls movement of contaminants in saturated soil.

Jerry has conducted environmental investigations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Michigan, Montana, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah, Alabama, Kansas, Illinois, Arizona, and Oklahoma; and conducted surface water compliance monitoring at the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

CAROLYN KOHRS

Carolyn manages and conducts environmental property assessments and Phase II investigations. She has been working in the environmental field since 1987. Carolyn is skilled at sifting through large quantities of historical data and transaction details to identify potential environmental concerns and determine their relevance to buyers, sellers, and developers. Prior to becoming one of the founding partners of Landmark Environmental, LLC, Carolyn worked for Barr Engineering Company. Carolynˇ¦s project work has included hundreds of initial and detailed site investigations for a wide variety of sites. Her experience also includes environmental and geotechnical investigations. Most recently, Carolyn has been focusing on Phase I assessment and Phase II investigations related to brownfields redevelopment of several large industrial sites in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. Carolyn also has approximately three years of experience working as a field geotechnical/environmental engineer for two consulting engineering companies in New England.

ERIC GABRIELSON

Mr. Gabrielson has been working in the environmental industry since 1989. His specialty is implementing field investigations and remedial actions for contaminated sites. He manages and coordinates all aspects of environmental compliance issues pertaining to soil, groundwater, solid waste and air monitoring during all phases of contaminate clean up. Since joining Landmark in the fall of 2004, Eric has served primarily as a field manager for multiple Phase II Investigations, including soil and groundwater investigations using Geoprobe and test-trenching techniques at an automobile sales facility in Hopkins, Minnesota and a former railroad depot property in Red Wing, Minnesota and an office complex in Hopkins. Eric also assisted in the preparation of Phase II investigation reports for each project. Eric has also provided assistance in the assessment and cleanup of meth labs.

Eric has worked on some significant remediation sites including a property that was impacted with petroleum at 100 feet below ground surface, and began to draw in an acid vapor plume after the initial remediation system began operations. This involved operating and maintaining five separate pollution devices including; a CatOx„µ unit for thermal destruction of gas stream vapors, a soil vapor extraction to removed impacted vapor/capillary water in the vadose zone, and an air sparge system to insert high-pressure ambient air into the saturated area adjacent to a major navigable river.

Eric provided lead construction oversight and final cover construction and closure process for two landfills in Wright County, MN. This included over 200 acres of impacted land. This was done under the MPCA landfill closure plan.

He provided construction observation for a soil vapor extraction (SVE) system at a superfund site in Central MN. Along with this construction background he performs operations and maintenance of activities for several SVE systems around the state.
